Credit unions offering superior credit card deals

It shouldn't surprise anyone that today's society is a result of many years of progress.  Apart from technological advancements, the social part of our lives has also moved a few steps forward. The pyramid of our needs and wants has revolutionized to the extent that we no longer care about things that had the biggest priority in our lives. Credit unions are just another tool that may help us to cope with one of the things that has a great impact on our prosperity.

We all think of democracy as a good thing. In fact, that is true, however, with the expansion of a free market economy, each individual should get familiar with the new responsibilities he or she is likely to get. For example, two or three generations ago, retirement plans have never been as problematic as they are now, the same goes for growing debt issues.

Think of any country with government controlled economy. Their residents don't get to worry about saving up for pension - their government does. However, the idea of a pension, determined by the government doesn't really appeal to me. That's where the democracy kicks in - you get a chance to save up as much as you can.

A new trend has spawned recently, involving schools establishing credit unions. Seeing that finance management properly is a drastic issue nowadays, certain states have approved such practice. Experts believe that the sooner the kids get acknowledged with finances and investments the less chance there is of them having trouble in future.

Spanish River High is just one of the many educational institutions seeking to help their students build a safe and effective passage to adult life. According to them, a credit union is the best way to achieve that.

Here is a little more detail on the idea behind the new project. Spanish River is planning on opening its own bank branch by partnering with Gold Coast Federal Credit Union. The students will not be charged any fees and offered low minimum deposits with attractive credit card deals.

The credit union will also allow certain students to apply for a car loan. To minimize the risks of piling up debts, students will first have to research on a car they are planning to purchase. Maintenance and insurance costs should also be considered and analyzed when applying for a loan. Moreover, the loan can only be issued as long as the parents are willing to cosign.

But there is more to it than simply opening an account, applying for a credit card or getting a loan. The union offers an opportunity for students to sign up for training in personal finances that will count towards their class credit. Student workers will be able to take on shifts at the branch while being supervised by senior employees. The access to information will also be restricted - only adult employees will be able to deal with private data, such as social security number.

The idea of credit unions has been around for quite some time already. The main difference that distinguishes such institutions from regular credit card banks is that unions are set up by members of a particular community. In other words, there are unions that are established depending on the profession or racial characteristics of its members.

Well, it seems that the world of credit is getting friendlier with time. New products allow for safer credit and loan usage, providing a great opportunity for youngsters to get familiar with troubles that they are most likely to face in adult life.
