Most couples think they know everything about each other, even when it comes to credit and debt. However, if you refer to the cases described by relationship counsellors, you can hardly say with certainty that you trust your partner implicitly.

Take for example the story of G. Carter who discovered that his ex-wife had charged thousands of dollars on credit cards without his knowledge. What a nasty shock for an ex-husband! And unfortunately, such cases are not rare. Sometimes, those disputes concerning money matters come to trial and ex-spouses have to seek justice in the court.

The thing is, many people get caught up in the illusions of their relationships. They see what they want to see. Generally, when two people get married, they share no just sorrow and joy but money as well. And in fact, it's pretty tough to create a family budget, especially when one of the partners has a bigger salary, and the other one has bad financial habits.

When you are single, you don't hesitate to apply for a new credit card. But if you are married, you should think about the benefits for a family. And somehow, it's getting so difficult to weigh all the pros and cons before submitting another credit card application.

Financial counsellors point out that in fact it's not so difficult to hide credit card debts from your spouse. The problem is, when such horrible financial secrets are revealed, the chances are great that credit debts are beyond control. Divorce lawyers can tell you a lot of stories about the couples whose marriage was on the rocks because one of the spouses hid secret credit debts, or charged thousands of dollars on one of the cards.

Interestingly, but men and women tend to hide their credit spendings on different things. Women are more likely to spend on clothes and accessories. Heavy spendings are generally a result of the impulsive shopping. A little bit here, a little bit there, and the total spendings amount to thousands of dollars. You may not even notice how and where you've spent a lot of money.

Meantime, men are lavish when they go out with mates. They prefer hide the truth about the money spent in bars and clubs. As a rule, it starts innocent, but somehow it spreads beyond control, and couples face horrible troubles that may end up in divorce.

If you are no fan of unexpected surprises, you'd better start talking about money with your partner. You will discover that in fact that is much easier to sort-out financial problems together. A family budget is a great thing. Once you start reviewing your budget together monthly, you will definitely see the results.
