Topic: Credit Card Debt Consolidation May Take Some Effords

Over 2 years ago. I took a settlement and payed of my providian credit card. Lately creditors have been calling me stating I still owe the balance. PLEASE HELP!!
We can only give you a piece of advice. First of all you should try to find any proofs of you having paid off your debt - payment peceipts, statements - everything. Another step of yours can be contacting credit bureaus and asking them if the fact of paying off that balance is reflected in your credit reports. If no, you will have a trouble. BUt if you really paid off everything, this should be stated in your credit records. After you will be able to prove you are clear of any debt, you can be sure to get rid of the company's claims. Show them your credit reports and other evidences of your being 'unguilty'. In some more complicated cases, you will have to turn to the court to prove inconsistence of the company's claims. I want to balance transfer some of my higher inrest rate cards to a lower fixed rate card. What are my best options?

It's a good decision to transfer a high-rate balance onto a new card. If your FICO score is high, you can review the following balance transfer deal.

You can transfer your balance on a fee-free card that gives 0% intro rates for up to 12 months, like Discover More Card and pay off the entire balance within this period. This card comes with a capped balance transfer fee with a maximum of $75. It means that you will no more that this sum even if you're going to transfer a big balance.

My boyfriend is in credit card debt and he recently received a cold call from a company that offered to pay off his credit cards for him, for a $1,000 fee. Then he would be responsible for paying them back, at a much lower interest rate than he would have to pay the credit card issuers. This sounds fishy to me. Unfortunately, he already gave his credit card number to the company to pay the $1,000 fee. Does this sound legitimate to you? And if it\'s a scam, how can he get the $1,000 charge removed from his credit card?

It's hard to say for sure whether the company is legitimate or not. There are loads of debt consolidation companies and it's very essential to choose the reputable one. When it comes to debt consolidation, experts share the opinion that self-help is the best option. To be more exact, it's within your grasp to obtain a financial tool with which you can work out your current debt problems. Balance transfer deals come as a good solution for those holders who want to get rid of debts.

Discover More Card and More Card - American Flag provide a 0% APR for up to 12 months, so that a holder can easily pay off the old balance faster and easier. These are fee-free deals, but they require excellent or good credit history.

In case your boyfriend's credit history is average, Platinum Prestige - Visa from Capital One will be a good choice. The key is to find the card with lower interest rates on balance transfers and pay down your balances on much more favorable terms.
